Douglas R. Beam is a trial lawyer and has tried hundreds of cases. He is the past president of the Florida Council of Bar Association Presidents and the Brevard County Bar Association. Mr. Beam is the recipient of the First Annual Professionalism Award of the Brevard County Bar Association and the first lifetime member of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is a lifetime member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers,  a sustaining member of the American Association for Justice and a member of the Florida Justice Association. He has served as chairperson of the 18C Grievance Committee of The Florida Bar and as chairperson of the 18th Judicial Circuit Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee “A.”

He is a member of The National Trial Lawyers, an organization limited to 100 trial lawyers in each state, and is AV- rated by Martindale-Hubbell. He received his law degree from The University of Tennessee College of Law, where he received the Dean’s Citation for Extraordinary Contributions to the University of Tennessee College of Law, served as an editor of theTennessee Law Review and as editor-in-chief of The Forum, the law school newspaper.

Mr. Beam served as a prosecutor for over three years in the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit of Florida, where he started the Child Sexual Abuse Prosecution Unit and prosecuted the first DNA case in the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit (one of the first six DNA prosecutions in the United States). He received the Teaching Excellent Award at the Brevard Community College Criminal Justice Center.

In 1988, Mr. Beam founded Douglas R. Beam, P.A., Attorneys and Counselors at Law. The law firm represents clients in a wide range of cases, including motor vehicle accidents, traumatic brain injury, wrongful death, trucking accidents, nursing home and assisted living center neglect, premises liability, and aviation accidents. In the law firm’s criminal defense practice, the attorneys represent individuals who have been accused of crimes or are being investigated for alleged criminal offenses–from misdemeanors to felonies. The law firm also represents lawyers being investigated or prosecuted by The Florida Bar. Mr. Beam is a certified mediator in circuit, county and family law is an approved arbitrator by The Florida Supreme Court.

Mr. Beam is the chairperson of the Board of Trustees of First United Methodist Church of Melbourne and has served as chair of the Staff-Parish Relations Committee. He has coached and sponsored AAU and Melbourne Police Athletic League (PAL) youth basketball teams. He is happily married to his wife of 29 years and also enjoys spending time with their children.

Leslie A. Davis
leslie 227x300 Firm OverviewMs. Davis joined Douglas R. Beam, P.A. in 2008 after spending eleven years as Legal Counsel for the Nevada Supreme Court. Ms. Davis received her undergraduate degree from Duke University and her law degree from the University of Southern California. Ms. Davis is admitted to practice in Florida, Nevada, California, Hawaii, and the United States Court of Appeal for the Eleventh Circuit and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. Ms. Davis is also a member of the Florida Justice Association and the Vassar B. Carlton American Inn of Court.

 

 

 

Jerry McGreal
jerry 227x300 Firm OverviewJerry McGreal has been an attorney for over 30 years, concentrating in personal injury, wrongful death, and truck crashes, slip and falls, products liability, medical malpractice and other professional malpractice. Mr. McGreal is a frequent lecturer in the field of accident reconstruction, injury causation analysis and biomechanics as they relate to injuries sustained in motor vehicle crashes. Before graduating from the University of Miami School of Law in 1976, Mr. McGreal served in the U.S. Army in the Staff Judge Advocates Office from 1970-1972. Throughout his career he has been a member of the Florida Bar, Florida Justice Association, Society of Automotive Engineers, American Association for Justice, the Illinois State Bar Association, and the Brevard County Bar Association. As an undergraduate at Illinois State University, Mr. McGreal was an All-American in basketball, lettered in golf, and was named the Illinois State University Man of the Year. Mr. McGreal is in the State of Illinois Basketball Hall of Fame and the Illinois State Athletics Hall of Fame. Mr. McGreal was the head coach of the Rockledge High School (Florida) basketball team, where he was named the Florida High School Athletics Association Coach of the Year and twice the Central Florida Coach of the Year. Additionally, Mr. McGreal has been honored by the Cocoa-Rockledge Civic League for Commitment to the Youth, was the Rockledge Kiwanis Man of the Year and was President of St. Mary’s Catholic Home and School Board in Rockledge. Before joining Douglas R. Beam, P.A., Mr. McGreal was a partner at Knudson & McGreal for over 30 years. He has been married to his wife, Pam, for 42 years and is the father of two and grandfather of three.
